There are many turkey and grouse wild in the area.  You can be walking in the woods and surprise a turkey and have them take to flight with their wide wing span.  It is amazing how they can fly though the dense woods without touching a wing.  The Tom turkey like this one has the classic fan tail that he uses to attract the ladies.
